主要研究領(lǐng)域：

昆蟲分類學(xué)：研究鞘翅目露尾甲科等昆蟲的鑒定、分類和各階元間親緣關(guān)系。明確各個(gè)分類階元的鑒定特征，發(fā)現(xiàn)新的分類單元并對(duì)現(xiàn)有分類進(jìn)行完善和修訂。

昆蟲形態(tài)學(xué)：利用光學(xué)顯微鏡、電子顯微鏡（掃描電鏡和透射電鏡）和顯微CT獲取形態(tài)結(jié)構(gòu)特征和3D數(shù)據(jù)，對(duì)形態(tài)結(jié)構(gòu)指標(biāo)進(jìn)行評(píng)估和篩選，并解決特征連續(xù)性變異的問題。

系統(tǒng)發(fā)育研究：結(jié)合形態(tài)特征、分子數(shù)據(jù)和生物學(xué)習(xí)性構(gòu)建符合自然歷史發(fā)展規(guī)律的系統(tǒng)發(fā)育樹，探討各單元之間的親緣關(guān)系，預(yù)測(cè)其分歧時(shí)間，追溯其進(jìn)化過程。
